Pets have always been a good companiion to their human owners. They bring joy and happiness. I personally love my pets because with them I feel happy and they bright up most of my days especially when I just got home and tired and there they are waiting for you at the door.
Dogs, cats, hamsters, fish or birds are the most common pets we have. These domesticated animals have learned their way to live with humans in almost complete harmony. But some animals are really not good as pets, like Travis the chimpanzee.
Travis was a 14 year old chimpanzee who is a celebrity in Stamford, Connecticut after appearing in numerous commercials and posing in photographs. He is known for his intelligence as well, He can bath himself and use the computer.
But last Monday afternoon, the chimp made a terrible thing that ended his life. He attacked a friend of his owner, the 55 year old Charla Nash. He viciously mauled the victim tearing off a large part of her face. Hospital officials said its very unlikely she will survive.
The owner, 70 year old Sandra Herold, went inside her house to call 911 and reported the incident. She then went back to the scene with a knife and stabbed her long time pet. I bet it's hard for her to do that but she had to do it, her friend's life is in danger.
The police came and Travis fled the scene but went back after a while and cornered an officer inside his car. The officer got nothing to do but to shoot the chimp at close range. Amazingly, Travis was still able to ran away into the woods.
The police officers pursued Travis and followed the blood trails which led them back to the house. Then they found Travis lying on his comfy sleeping quarters, dead.
