Please give us a short summary of your website?
At MyPetFriends.biz we offer social networking for pets including pet profiles, pet classifieds, pet blogs and much more. You can join and participate for free, we NEVER charge for any services on our site!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Well I myself have been a pet lover for years as well as members of my family and close friends. We all love our pets and want to share that love with other pet lovers!
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was launched almost 10 years ago it was my first web development company. It was called koolworldweb.com it can even be found in archive.com since it no longer exists.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Well it was hard to pick a good name for a site such as this we spend weeks coming up with names and searching availability.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
There are some sites that do one or two things our site does, but we do it all! We have everything from pet social interaction to pet blogs and classifieds, no site does what we do!
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My main goal is to have fun, meet other pet lovers like myself and even help non-profit agencies place their pets nationwide!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Well success isn't always rated in financial terms, I would say the site is a 100% success because I've had a ton of fun designing it and promoting it!
I'm not currently making any money off of it, but one day I might.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I wouldn't change a thing.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I have years of experience designing some of the largest networks in the world including networks for AT&T, DirectTV, Dishnetwork and Ebay. I'm a highly experienced Unix architect there is no site too large for me!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None. Honestly I've been doing this for so long I already had the server space and applications designed.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Nothing.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I have just begun promotion of my website but I would have to say that social bookmarking has been very good for us so far.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't. Everything is going to plan.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been up for a few weeks and I plan to run the site for years and years to come.
Why Make The Site Free?
Well I feel that a 100% free site where people can network with eachother, write blogs and post classifieds was the best way to go. There is no need to charge for a service as fun as this!
