Features champion Shar Pei. Lovely dogs and great companions.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Shar Pei are my absolute favorite dogs and I've been involved with them for nearly 10 years. I started breeding and showing 5 years ago and now have many puppies all over the world.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched this site about 4 years ago. It was my first.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Cascata Rochosa is my kennel name and is named after a rocky cascade i know.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
My dog are all treated like my kids and are very well bred. I don't breed any dog with health or eye problems and guarantee this.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To have more!!! And to breed more healthy and champion dogs.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Any money i make from my dogs goes straight back into the future of my kennel. It is more of a hobby that anything else.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would have a bigger kennel and import some more from other countries and show them in other countries.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I only supply puppies when i want one myself and people have ordered them.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The only headache i have had is when i lost my first Shar Pei 1 and half years ago. My heart still aches for her.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the right dogs. Studying their genes to make sure they dont carry genetic diseases.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Letting people see the dogs at shows etc. Speaking with other breeders throughout the world. I have sold puppies to about 10 other countries.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I couldn't ask for more.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Its about 3 years now and its had allot of hits. Shar Pei will never be out of fashion and as long as i have the right dogs I will be happy as will my customers.
Who do you sell your puppies to?
I have a wide range of customers. From people who breed to people who just want a companion. All people who buy from me are checked and questioned about why they want a shar pei and are given a handbook and guarantee to care for them.
