Please give us a short summary of your website?
Well, this site has many features. It runs from pug information to pug e-cards, to pug YouTube videos, and much, much more. People are really talking about it. I have received a number of emails from visitors talking about how much they love this site. I have gotten more comments on how good the information is more then anything else. It may sound cheesy for me to talk about it, but come to this website, and you will see, that it is pretty cool! And if you don't think so, then please tell us. There is a form there that will let you give us some comments on this website.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have a cute little black pug of my own, and it was so hard to find one. I must have stayed up all night searching Google, Ask, and more search engines for a way to get a pug, and information about them. And of course, being a fan of pugs, I wanted to see some pug pictures and videos. I wanted all of this information to be in one site. Well, I did finally get a pug, and I wouldn't give him away for the world. I wanted other people to have this website to their advantage, and that is why I created it.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This was actually my first website. Although because I have gotten so many positive comments on the website, that I have started to create and inner circle of website about different breeds of dogs. You can visit links to these on the pug website. These sites include some about St. Brenards, and the lovable, Japanese Shiba Inu.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I don't really remember. It was kind of tired when I registered the site through weebly, (not to worry, I was completely awake when I created the features in the site!) so I really don't remember!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
What makes it different from others, is that this site gives you a collection of not only fun pug stuff, but also trustworthy information. This information has been collected from scientific encyclopedias. And it also helps that this website has been created by a person who loves, and has a pug, and not by some mega corporation that slap on features that cost you money, and turn out to be not that good.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is not money. It is not for fame. It is for people to have trusted information, and to see the cute side and wild side of the pug. (Don't worry, wild side of the pug is good!) I want people to want to come back to my website because they have found interest in not my website, but the wonderful breed, the pug.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I really don't care about this. Me knowing that I have interested people in getting a pug is worth all of the money in the world.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would defiantly advertise on more search engines, and loose my sub-domain, and go for a plain .com. Right now, the only search engines i advertise in is YouTube! I posted a slide show of pugs there, and that it my advertisement. So far though, it has gotten me over 160 hits!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I have many back-up resources that I plan to use if this happens!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I have had a lot of good luck with this website creation! The only problem that I ran into was creating the e-card service, but I figured it out, and now everything is fine!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Probably trying to configure the e-card service.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
YouTube! I know it sounds weird, but it has gotten me over 160 hits in the past two weeks!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I didn't think that I would be able to do cool services like an e-cars service and YouTube pug videos, but it worked out!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have bee running it for about two weeks now, and I expect to keep running it for a LONG, LONG, TIME!!!
