Your house pets store for all your dog, cat, fish, reptile, bird, ferret, rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, mice and rat pet supplies, medications and accessories.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Interest in computer hardware and software created an interest in e-commerce and self employment, through education.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Late 2008.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name was chosen to best describe the products available
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Education, research and a personal interest in animals.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep the website for self employment income.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Have the time but not enough money to market the website using marketing experts so I market it myself. Being a long process the money made is not yet balancing with either time or investment.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would be able to market my website better and faster by using a marketing firm.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I have time to keep up with demand. Self employment and a self supporting is the objective.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Legalities, American vs Canadian. Process is much slower in Canada. Banking and Merchandising account, getting a e-commerce business in Canada is almost impossible with red tape. Funding and credit basically are unavailable. Education and legal process over extending. personal credit available.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Submitting to search engines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Slower process to get the website marketed. Did not realize the different costs involved of developing a website. Very glad I took the time for education before trying to make my website business a success.
