My Pet sitting business' website. Work in progress!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Help my business by providing easy access to any information that may be required. Advertising, Legal Documents, Service Area, Pet Pictures, Online payment for services.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
About 3 years ago! This is mostly it! It now has more information, online payment, etc...
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Brain storming with my spouse.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I love every pet I sit like my own and care for it in the same manner! It not just business! That is why I still can't find anyone suitable to help me! The standard to live up to is very high!!
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Manage to find good employees and gain some personal time back while still running my business and care for pets!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I don't have a life anymore other than my business! Money wise I would say expenses are minimal other that transportation.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd be offering daycare / boarding services on a larger scale in addition to current services. My spouse would like to have more online product sales that work on autopilot so we can have income and have a life. But I still would want to be directly involved with pets!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Definitely not if we count only on my time!
What has been your biggest challenge?
-- Finding reliable / responsible / caring workers to help me. -- Managing my time (ie have a life )
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
-- Signs on my sister's vehicle parked at her work location (local Seven Eleven Store) -- Work of mouth -- Signs on my own vehicle. I'm around town all the time! -- website pretty much in that order!!!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
My spouse is developping my website and promoting it online with yellow pages, google.com directory, yahoo.com directory, 411.com and on local business/neighborhood/community websites. Which has brought several new customers.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been up for about two years. We seek only local targeted traffic. We do not need website traffic from around the world or even from all US states!!!
