We started PAWS-atively pet sitting with the mission to provide excellent care and love for your pets when you can't be there. Whether you need someone to walk and socialize your new puppy, or come by every day to visit and care for your cat, dog, fish or pocket friends while you're out of town, we'll be there. It's very stressful for your pets when you have to leave town, and most animals, (particularly cats) do not do well in new environments. Because of the stress, potential exposure to illness from other animals and the desire to maintain normal routines, many people decide to bring in an in-home pet sitting service. Your loved one can stay in his/her own comfortable environment and we will come to them. You can rest assure that I will care for your pets as you would, and hopefully relieve some of that guilt that most people feel when they have to leave their "family member".
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Owned and Operated by Animal Lover' Denise, PAWS-atively Pet Sitting Service is NOT a Large Company that sends strangers to your home. You will meet only myself at your consultation, and I will be the only one taking care of your precious pets. Don't trust just anybody with your babies! I am PROFESSIONAL, TRUSTWORTHY, CARING, And DEPENDABLE, AND AS YOU CAN SEE, VERY QUALIFIED! I service most areas in and around Carbon and Monroe Counties, so I can provide my customers with the very best in home pet sitting service around, and to give my customers different alternatives to boarding and relying on family and friends for their pet needs.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Pawsatively Pet Sitting is my first website, and was launched in May of 2007.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The very first thing most people teach their pet is to sit and give their paws. This comes with Trust, Love, and Caring. So my motto has always been "Put your Paws in My Hands" and the most Pawsatively name for my site was formed.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I have years of experience with my own pets, and pet sitting for family and friends from a young age. I also offer to stay in your home for up to 7 days to take care of your pets and home while your away. Most pet sitters only do up to 4 visits a day, and some people like someone staying in their home.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I reach my goal everytime I am doing a pet sitting job, I enjoy and love caring for every animal in my care. They become my child, and are very important that they have their needs tended to.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I spend whatever quality time it takes to do my job sucessfully. If I have a pet who is older and does not move as well as younger pets than they need more quality time to take care of them. I do not take on more than I can handle in one week, and my clients needs are always taken into consideration. My success is giving the best quality care and love to my clients not based on money.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would also add on a pet day care center where I would hire the very best to work with your pets on a daily basis. I would also staff a Vet three times a week to work with special needs some animals may have to make it easier for their owners, and try to keep costs down as much as possible.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If my site were to get really big, than I would have to hire on more pet sitters to help me. This could be a great advancement for my business, but I still enjoy being smaller and being very active in doing this job.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Automobile, and website problems.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Turtles, lol, yes Turtles! I had pet sat for 3 very cute box turtles for 15 days, and after watching them for a day, one stopped eating on me. You may not think Turtles have personalities but they do, and they miss their owners just as much as a dog or cat would. Finally, after three days of worrying the Turtle started eating again, and all was well.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
My site is through website pros, I do have my disagreements with them from time to time, but for the most part, they are very very good.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Even though my site is through Website Pros, I can still do anything with my site and edit it anytime I wish.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
My site has been up and running since May of 2007, and will be around for the next 10 to 20 years I hope.
