What inspired you to launch your own website?
All Critter Sitter Pet Sitting was founded in 2006. The owner, Debi Alford, was a Veterinary Technician for seven years and a Paralegal for eight years, all the while maintaining her love of animals. Debi has a real love of animals which motivated her to provide the type of service she wanted for her own pets. Her Veterinary Technician background means she's comfortable and confident in administering all medications for your pets, including injections, pills, fluids, etc. Debi has experience with cats, dogs, horses, livestock and exotics.
Beginning her own Pet Sitting Service in McKinney and the surrounding areas, Debi has the expertise that only years of experience and a true love of animals can bring.
All Critter Sitter Pet Sitting serves pets and their owners in McKinney, as well as Allen, Frisco, Lucas and Fairview, TX with the finest and most experienced dog walking and pet care service.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In May 2006 I sat down, created and launched my own website. It took 6 hours and I love it!
How did you decide on a name for your website?
All Critter Sitter Pet Sitting is a true representation of my company. I have several dog and cat clients, as well as horses, fish, exotics, etc.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I have 8 years of Vet Tech experience which gives me the background, confidence and ability to give in home care for special needs pets. I have clients who have pets in need of fluids, pills, shots, etc. Taking a special needs pet to the Vet is often traumatic to the pet...and the owner, so my ability to offer the same care to them in their home means less stress on everyone involved.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My eventual goal is to have 1-2 sitters in each of the areas I cover and for my business to be large enough to keep them all busy. I do not envision myself not doing any 'sits' in the future, but having more help as I grow would be awesome.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My time investment has been more than my money investment, but either way, I consider it an investment in my family, myself and a company I am proud to be the owner of.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would have fun flash on my website!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
All Critter Sitter Pet Sitting is, as of now, able to keep up with the demand. I hired Erin Millwater and Amy Ransdell to cover Frisco Texas for me which has been great.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No unexpected costs, other than gasoline prices - wow! Wal-Mart and 7-11 have been happy with my SUV this summer!
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge would be staying one step ahead of my competition. Several people have thrown their hat in the ring, some have stayed in, some have seen that working 7 days a week isn't part of the job they thought would happen. I belive that All Critter Sitter Pet Sitting offers professional pet sitters, services that are outstanding, and competitive prices that allow my clients to keep their pets in their home instead of boarding them.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
That's a great question! I have no idea! Some weeks I'm number 1 or 2, some weeks I'm number 16 - it's always a guessing game.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I had no idea what I was in for when I developed my own site, but I've enjoyed being able to make changes as needed and not having to rely on someone else to do that for me.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
My website is a large marketing item for me so I'll run it as long as I have my own company!
