What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have always loved animals and enjoy working with them everyday!
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is the first website i've done from scratch.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Well it was pretty simple since my name is Michelle (shelly is my nickname) and I didn't want to do something specific like just pet sitting, or yard clean up because I want to offer many pet services so I just went with Pampered pets because that is what we do!
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We offer realistic prices for people who need our services for more than just leisure reasons
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I plan to use our site to grow our business and hopefully get some animals adopted (we have an animals for adoption section)
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I use all of my free time working on building a better business. I believe in doing everything 100%
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would already have a boarding facility, grooming, and any pet service you can think of, but right now starting small until we can obtain a physical location in the york area
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
absolutely! I have taken all the beginning steps to ensure that things are done right the first time, no loose ends so that if this does occur it's simply a matter of hiring more employees to keep customers satisfied
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
none as of yet. our business started very slowly and everything has been well researched ahead of time before jumping into something that would entail large costs or problems
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting our name out. Plus our economy is hurting and this is why we try to give you the best possible prices. We don't have a lot of overhead so we are able to keep our costs down. Also being winter time people don't have a huge need for our services.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
craigslist, and passing out business cards, also word of mouth really helps!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
it's a lot easier than i thought but still very time consuming especially in the beginning but it has all been worth it.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
it's currently only been running for a month but i plan to run it forever if i can. Even if the business doesn't become a huge success i plan on using my business to help out animals in need!
What do you want people to know about you?
I'm a very kind compassionate person and love every animal. I want to help your pets while you are away and make sure they are being treated like family and not just an animal. Come to us for quality pet care so you can be at ease while you are away! You can afford great care for your pet without going broke!
