I wrote a lady regarding a "free adoption" for a woman that I thought lived in Austin. But she tried to make me feel bad for her by telling me that she was in Africa because her daughter had a terrible accedent, and that she was there for only that reason.

Then she tried to get me to wire 200 dollars for the shipping, she dragged me into beleving that she was really there so boy I was fooled.

I have the same problem... but with parrots!

Hello

thanks for your interest in my pair of African Greys for adoption. They are 18 months old, in perfect feather and loves attention. They eat zupreem pellets and fresh fruit and veggies. They loves human food and will eat any that you give them. I have hand fed them from 4 weeks of age, they are use to being handles and will step up for almost anyone they says Hello, step up, good boy, whines like a dog, rings like the phone, and sounds like someone knocking on the door. They will come with cages and toys .

I work for the Christ Orphanage center at (Austin) Texas but presently we are here in Cameroon to carry out research on the orphans here and to help them fight against H.I.V/A.I.D.S .

These Birds are Called Lola and Molly they are very welcoming and could be left out of their cage.

there are hand raised and potty trained.

i am very ready to ship them back to the U.S.A to any pet lover or pet loving or Christian home.because i just discovered that the climate here is so so bad for these angel and due to my movements up and down so i don't have all the time to spoil them with love.

how soon are you ready for these angels?

they have been trained to speak both English,French and Spanish.these babies come along with all their needs like cage, toys and c.d player including a menu booklet.they will cost you $280 for their transportation ok

these angels are so secretive they keep all home secrets..

as soon as you will be ready for Lola and Molly get back to me with the following information so that i will be able to do the flight registration and fill the flight and transit form ok..

Your Full Names?????

Full Contact Address???

Street address????

Nearest airport Closed To Your Location???

if possible your phone number#??????

as soon you provide me with the following information i will be able to change my names from their passport to your names and fill the flight/transit form.

it will be an 8-9hours flight back to the U.S.A ok.

I recently emailed a guy who was offering an "AKC" yorkie for a low cost.. and after reading these stories I will not be fooled into offering any money. Thank you all for exposing this. Here is the email that I was sent: (the ad offered a female yorkie for $85 from Dallas, & specifically said to email him about why the cost was so low.)

"Hi there

They are 12 weeks of age. perfect health wise and will be

coming along with a vet supervision and a year health

guarantee certificate.My reason giving

dolly and precious up for adoption is due to the fact that

I work for the Christ Orphanage center at (Austin) Texas but presently we are here in Cameroon to carry out research on the orphans here and to help them fight against H.I.V/A.I.D.S, so i came with them to cameroon with the puppies thinking it would be the same condition there in the states and that my wife will be able to care for them.since am soo busy with me courses that i hardly find time for

myself and the babies, but unfortunately i just lost my wife

and so i decided to give dolly and precious out for

adoption cause i know i will all ways thing of her when i

see this puppies, and i do need a kind of family where they

will be given the love and care they deserves and have not

had of recent with me,that is why

my priority is not the asking price but a nice home for

them i will also like to ask you the following

question?

are you a breeder?

are you married?

do you love yorkies?.

They are for free

adoption, what you will need to do is pay 85 euro for each of

the puppies so all you will have to pay is 170 euro if you are

willing to adopt both

puppies as i am willing to complete the flight to

send them back to you, i do not want to border you to pay

the shipping when i can do that, it may delay my puppies

from getting a home. it is 9hours flight to send them back

to the states and they will be micro chipped and travel

with enough food and water, and i will also send them with

all papers so get back to us as soon as you can

thanks"

Here is the whole email conversation that I just got into with another scam out of Cameroon. We were wanting to adopt two capuchin monkeys....sad to say that upon my research, I found the same exact pictures that she sent to me on antoher website for exotic animals. I called the owner of the website that I found and she advised me that the pictures were of her babies and not the person who was trying to sell them to me. It is just so sad.... Now I don't know if I will ever try to adopt one again.

Here is the converstaions....

hello once again,

We will be very much ready to give you any reference you seek to get from us.we never new giving out these babies will bring us such a streess. you make us ponder if you are really interested in these babies. If your heart tells you that this is a fake then we on our own part will hove nothing much to say than stay with our babies.we will not let you have what you do not like. but if you very much deem it necessary that we give you a guarantee, you get back to us and say what you want as a guarantee. we very much think this thing is getting off hands.we can't understand that you can have such thoughts about us. we are a family with kids and will not like to spiol another family's happiness. besides how much did we ask for the babies. Is that any sum we can deside to incriminate our selves and family for?

please do understand our worries and make us see serousness in you. My phone is apt but you said you called and it was not going through. please lets get this thing stright.we will wait you make us know you are still interested and ask us for a gauarantee and we will be opened to you.

hope you get back to us.

Well....it just seems strange to me that the pictures you sent to me are on other websites and they are in Florida. I do understand what you are saying and not sure what to think. I want for this adoption to be ligit and not a scam but I there are just so many other factors that are pointing in the other direction.

To help clear all of this up.......I would like some references for yourself so that I can make sure you are ligit. If you can provide me with some references, I would like to check. If you could send more picutres....maybe it can help prove that these are your babies. The 3rd picture that you sent to me is actually one of a spider monkey and not a capuchin. I do know the difference and know for sure that that one is a spider monkey and the other one you said was the female is actually a capuchin.

Thanks again and I will be waiting on references.

Hello madame

We very much do not know how best to exlain this but i believe it has tally with our numerous quest to give this babies out that we seeked for tenders from so many sites to make known our babies. That means must of the pictures we took for them has been used in the sites you labled.

We very much had to give these babies out since their humidity here was not the best and that made us to go extra miles for their evaquation. That we believe is the result of their pictures being on sites that i can't even tell. I will go through the sites you send and see for my self if what you are saying is really true. If that be the case,we may proceed legally.

we will get back to you if we have any more information. But also, keep us infomed if you stomble on any this time.

we wait on your compliance.

This is an email I sent to you this morning. REad it and let me know. Thanks.

Well....I will call but I am skeptical about calling. I don't like to give any of my information out over the internet or to anyone I don't know. That is why I was doing all of this through email. I hope you could understand?

About the pictures.....I was wanting other pictures because upon my reasearch over the internet......I came across several websites with the same pictures that you have sent to me. They were of other capuchin monkeys up for adoption by other people and those people were not you. I have to watch my back and make sure this is not a scam. I just can't figure out why you became persistant about me calling after I stated that my husband wanted to meet you and the monkeys.

Check out this site and then tell me if the pictures you sent to me are "your" actual capuchins that are up for adoption.

Also....about scanning the pictures. If these are your babies....as I have did with my babies....I have hundreds of pictures that all you ahve to do is attach to an email. I was not asking you to take them right now....but to send more of some that you already have. That is all.

Here is the site...... http://www.primatecare.com/forsale.htm

Are you affilated with this company who sells them? They have all 3 of the pictures that you sent to me. Explain that to me??

Thanks again.....I am only trying to cover myself in the case of a scam. That is all and I would hope you could understand that!

Regarding the monkeys,we are not selling them. we are placing them on adoption and henceforth, placing a heavy price on them will have a negative impact to our psyche. it will be as if we are selling our own biological children. please also promise us that you will never sell the baby out when you get her.

better still,we will appreciate it if your contact number and home address is given to us.

Wow....that is great. Thanks for the information. Is it any way possible that my husband would be able to meet with you to see the monkeys? He flies with the Air Force and he will be in Yaounde on Tuesday for four days with his mission. I just talked with him tonigt and he said that he would be able to meet with you to see and meet the babies before we made our decision. If this is good for you....please let me know a time that would work with your schedule.

Also....out of curiousity....I have been doing lots of research the last couple of days and usually these babies sell for thousands of Euros. Why are you selling your babies for only 278 Euros??

I also need to check with customs at the airport and see what the process is for shipping them here and what regulations I need to follow.

Please let me know if it is possible for my husband and you to meet while he is there. Thanks again for your time.

Are the males more energetic than the females?

Ok....so for everything it would cost me 185 Euros?? Is that for the female or male?

Does this include shipping it here?

I would need to know a full price on everything so that I can make sure to tell my husband all of the details. It is solely his decision so I want to make sure he knows everything.

Awww....my heart just melts. Beautiful babies. So which one is the female?? Do they have names already? I will show my daughters and I know they will just fall in love with them. I have raised my two daughters to love animals just as much as I have.

I talked with my husband tonight and he wants to do more research as well. He is on a mission in another country at this time but will return next week. I will then show him the pictures.

So if you can, send me some information about the adoption process. Costs, if any?? We are curious as to how much one of these will cost us. What about food?? What sort of things do they like to eat, is their feeding schedule difficult to follow? I have read a lot already today and it was lots of information to take in and to understand. How old are they??

Thanks again for this information and pictures. They are just precious!!

since you wnat just one will be ok this monkeys never grow up together .

the climate suitable for these monkeys is a cold moist climate.

just take look at the pics below, hope you will like these babies.

Well.....I have never had a capuchin before but was interested in having one. I am a pet lover of all sorts. I have 3 dogs currently and have had pet squirrels and all sorts of exotic animals growing up.

I do not plan on breeding them. I was just interested in one but if they come as a pair....I would hate to split them up.

I have been doing some research about how to care for them and it seems to be a little difficult but I plan on doing better research before we make a decision. I need to check into the laws about having them on base and in the stores with me. Everyone here in Germany brings their dogs in all the stores and restaurants and I was hoping that they would allow the monkeys as well. I will have to check into that. I live in Germany but only because my husband is military. We will be moving back to the states in a year and would want them to come with us. What climate do they prefer?? I would want to give them the best home that we could but will only take them if I feel we can give them that. I don't want to jeporadize their health or their happiness in any way.

Would you be willing to send me some pictures?? I would love to show my husband and look into their care furthur and then we will make a decision.

Thanks so much for gettin back to me. I really appreciate the information you have send and I look forward to doing more research on them and hopefully giving these babies a great and loving home.

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in my pair of African Greys for adoption. They are 18 months old, in perfect feather and loves attention. They eat zupreem pellets and fresh fruit and veggies. They loves human food and will eat any that you give them. I have hand fed them from 4 weeks of age, they are use to being handles and will step up for almost anyone they says Hello, step up, good boy, whines like a dog, rings like the phone, and sounds like someone knocking on the door. They will come with cages and toys .Lola and Molly are beautiful, intelligent parrots,Lola and Molly, will require a large commitment as they require a lot of attention.Lola and Molly will require a lot of stimulating toys due to their high intelligence and to avoid boredom.Three to five toys at a time are typically enough to satisfy them, but too many toys can crowd their cage.Lola and Molly have special dietary requirements and should be fed with calcium and Vitamin, rich foods such as leafy greens like mustard greens, broccoli etc.,

I work for the Christ Orphanage center at (Austin) Texas but presently we are here in Cameroon to carry out research on the orphans here and to help them fight against H.I.V/A.I.D.S .

These Birds are Called Lola and Molly they are very welcoming and could be left out of their cage.

there are hand raised and potty trained.

i am very ready to ship them back to the U.S.A to any pet lover or pet loving or Christian home.because i just discovered that the climate here is so so bad for these angel and due to my Job,we keep moving up and down so i don't have all the time to spoil them with love, and give them all the Attention they Require.

how soon are you ready for these angels?

they have been trained to speak both English,French and Spanish.these babies come along with all their needs like cage, toys and c.d player including a menu booklet.they will cost you $300 for their transportation ok

these angels are so secretive they keep all home secrets.

as soon as you will be ready for Lola and Molly get back to me with the following information so that i will be able to do the flight registration and fill the flight and transit form ok.

Your Full Names?????

Full Contact Address???

Street address????

Nearest airport Closed To Your Location???

if possible your phone number # ??????

as soon you provide me with the following information i will be able to change my names from their passport to your names and fill the flight/transit form.

it will be an 8-9hours flight back to the U.S.A ok.

I am currently in the middle of what I think is a scam. The email address I responded to in regards to adoption of a capuchin monkey named Nina from Cameroon is whitewhits@yahoo.com. I have paid $290US for the adoption. Now they want $6,500 for the refundable insurance for shipment. I said I do not have that money but they keep asking for more. He always writes the word waiting at the end of his emails. Can anyone give me insight into this? Worried.
Anyone who tries to buy monkeys for a pet deserves to be scammed. The selfishness and apparent self-entitlement at the expense of what is TRULY best for these animals is appalling and saddening.

Do your research, forgot about what you WANT, and do what is BEST for the animal (and that is not being with your uneducated ass).

soooo glad i researched this I was so close to falling for this bull!! After research anyway anyone in a state in which it is illegal should not own any NHP. I wasnt sure about CA's exotic oet law but once i found out it was illegal i thought hmmm how could they even ship it then!!?? Thanks people dont fall for capuchin monkey scam!! stick with what you see and touch!! IS WHAT YOU GET!!so I found this on the internet as well as other breeders who sell there monkeys for the typical cost for a capuchin about $7,000

I am not one to be scamed as i always do my research so if you are legit would you be willing to to give me your address and allow me pick her up and pay cash or money order. That way perhaps I could see her present environment? I do not want to assume you are a scam artist for some reason god gave me the weakness of being naive and too trusting and I have learned from mistakes in the past. I have read many many stories of scams of people being ripped off, ive been suckered into crap many times before. Are you trustworthy? Honestly, $400 shipped to my door for a baby capuchin? Either one hell of a deal or one heck of a scam that suckers people like me in!!!!Monkey scam warning

**NEVER use Western Union or Money Gram to purchase a pet. Most scammers use Western Union to steal hundreds and even thousands of dollars from innocent people just trying to find that perfect primate to bring home to their family. Yes it is sad! Do NOT trust a seller stating they are from Africa, Lagos, Nigeria or Cameroon.**

Sellers offering a primate significantly below market value. This is often a scam to engage many people to send money for this non-existent primate. You will never receive the primate.

Sellers who request that a "shipper" be paid directly or sellers that state the primate will be delivered directly to your door or destination. All primates shipped via an airplane must be picked up at the airport. Primates can no longer be imported into the U.S.; and, if they are imported, there is a quarantine period they must go through, before going-on to the end-user.

Sellers who state that you must send additional funds to get the primate through customs.

Seller insists that you use an online escrow service of their choosing. Before using any escrow service, verify the company with the Better Business Bureau to insure the business has a satisfactory record.

Notice of Internet Adoption Scams Involving Imported Pets

Updated: October 30, 2006 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been notified of an increasing number of Internet scams involving adoptions of pets from other countries into the United States. In most of these scams, victims respond to Internet classified advertisements in which animals such as Capuchin monkeys or purebred puppies are offered for adoption in exchange for shipping costs. Typically, the person offering the animal for adoption lives in another country and requests that the shipping fee be paid. After paying the shipping fee up front, victims discover that the animal is never delivered, and in some cases, that it is illegal to bring the animal to the United States.

In a typical scam, the animal offered for adoption is a Capuchin monkey. Unfortunately, victims may be unaware of federal regulations prohibiting the importation of nonhuman primates as pets. The CDC regulations covering the importation of nonhuman primates as pets are found at (42 CFR 71.53). Furthermore, all monkeys and other types of nonhuman primates are considered endangered species, which may not be imported without proper permits according to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Often, the person offering the monkey for adoption claims to be a missionary in an African country who can no longer care for the animal. The scammer offers the monkey for adoption and asks for only several hundred dollars to cover shipping costs. In several instances, unsuspecting persons have paid this fee and then received an e-mail telling them that the monkey was seized at an airport because it lacked the proper permits. In reality, the monkey never existed.

CDC has also been notified of at least one scam in which a purebred puppy, such as a Yorkshire terrier, was offered for adoption in a similar scheme. In this situation, the person offering the puppy for adoption first demanded payment of shipping fees, then payment for additional vaccinations that were actually not required by CDC. In reality, this was also a scam.

In these situations, the person conducting the scam often engages the victim in frequent e-mails and telephone calls to establish sincerity. CDC cautions consumers to be aware of the potential for Internet fraud involving the commercial trade of animals. Consumers should avoid situations in which they provide money up front prior to shipment and should make sure they are educated about federal requirements for shipping animals such as dogs, cats, and monkeys. Consumers should also be cautious of offers for animal adoptions from overseas, especially from countries in Africa. If Internet fraud is suspected, consumers should report these instances to the Internet site posting the classified advertisement and should also consider reporting Internet Fraud.

I'm sorry too say that i fell for the same scam about spider monkeys they told me they had a sick daughter in the hospital and could not care for them any more they also said they were in cameroon and they were not selling their babies but looking for a caring and loving family to take care of them

they said it would cost 200 for a flight renewel fee back to the U.S which they got that from me and after i sent that by western union i got a message from schiphol international airport in yaounde saying i would have to pay 280 for special crates thank god i caught it befor they got that im writing this because i wanted too put the email adresses and phone numbers they gave me

in case someone runs across the same ones i did then they would know it is a scam i also want to say africa, cameroon, and all those other y countrys down ther can burn in hell because cheating hard working americans like my self and ohters who fell victim to these sorry basterds is a low life thing to do so here are emails and numbers they gave me: shariagustus@yahoo.com, ph# 00237 7933 5202,schiphol_interpetmovers@rock.com ph#

00237 3307 2571,animalrelif.center@gmail.com

also this was a classified ad that said lovely baby spider monkeys for your home.

just remember if you see these it is a scam.

I've been looking for a orkie and i came across one. The lady I was e mailing to for a week said she was prYeganet and her husband was ill so that's why she is setting the Yorkie for free she also said she was in Cameroon and the fee is 190 dollars and then the airport send me something in Cameroon that was sooooo fake so then i told her this is scam and she said no no i don't do those kind of things and thanks to this website i didn't take the chance to buy a fake teacup yorkie. We should put a stop in this they really persuade you and more people are getting scammed.
