What is the name of your Blog?

The Pet Loss Blog

What is your name?

Alexandra

Where are you from? (include country, state and/or city)

Los Angeles, CA USA

What is your current age or age range?

Early 40s

What is your blog about?

Advice and support to those who have had a pet die. I have memorial ideas, include pets who have passed on, and try to support the grief and/or shock that people may be going through.

Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?

As and artist, I started off creating pet cremation urns. I really enjoyed helping people with closure, helping them feel better about the loss. I started blogging as a way to be in direct contact with people who are going through this loss. So they can share their own experiences, and others can gain comfort though that. I also try to bring in some humor, as that can be a great release for people.

What blogging platform do you do and why?

I use Wordpress. It was the easiest to integrate into my own website. I still have to update it. We will see if I still think it is easy then...

What do you blog the most about?

I split my blogging time up between actual pets who have passed on, advice, support, and animal rescue.

What kind of blogs make you angry?

I am not fornd of blogs that seem to take content from other people and use it as filler.

Give five of your best blogging tips.

Regularity. You need to really commit to daily/weekly postings. Comments. Respond to the comments you get. Good writing. Spelling, structure, etc. Originality. Speak from your own voice. Connection. Stay connected with your readership.

Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?

I started blogging to 'fill out' my business, and combine it with what I really care about.

How long have you been blogging?

This blog has been going for about 6 months.

About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?

I try to commit to two times a week. The holidays slowed me down some.

Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?

As of yet I do not. (need to update Wordpress first, and am too nervous to do so...)

Do you use Digg, and why or why not?

Yes.

Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?

Yes.

What promotional techniques work best for you and why?

Word of mouth. Sharing offline.

If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?

It would be what I do now. Although my readers do not comment much, they do send me emails thanking me for my writing. It is a great feeling.

What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?

Not replying to comments. It didn't dawn on me to start a 'conversation' with readers until very recently. I think that slowed down my blog growth some.
