Name of your website?Prospect BArk!
Your name?
Chun-Soon Li
Your Location (city, etc)
Brooklyn, NY
Please give us a short summary of your website?
We offer comprehensive pet care for all Brooklyn residents, including dog walking, pet sitting, pet photography, cat taxi service, doggie daytrips, and more!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
With this new business, a site is the best way to get the word out. Also, I know html and can maintain this site pretty easily.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My own artist site, www.chunsoonli.com, followed by my blog, www.killerconcubines.com. Both are still up, but get a cold due to my absence. ProspectBArk is getting all my attention these days.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Well, I noticed in a domain name search that prospectbark.com had just expired. I did a whois lookup ofr the domain, found that the owner lives down the block from my last apartment in Park Slope, and contacted him. He sold me the domain for a steal! I met him on his front stoop, we did the exchange right there, with his 2 dogs guarding the steps. Classic Brooklyn.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
It's prettier, better organized, and we offer things like Doggie Daytrips (where you can send your dog upcountry for half a day, or hiking for a day, while you're at work...or you can come along too!) We also offer pet photography and custom hardbound artbooks.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
This site's purpose is to assist in the advertising and servicing of Prospect BArk!, the company.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Well, this is a new company, so thus far, there's no, um, balance. But that's how starting a business is.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I am really happy with the site, but if I'd had more money I might have hired someone else to do it in less time.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Well, if it did, that would mean business is very lucrative, so yes, I'd be getting paid to keep up with the site.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far. All the many costs and headaches were expected ;-)
What has been your biggest challenge?
Well, there was that glitch with the php forms...
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Craigslist, so far.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has been pretty expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It has been up for a few months, with different pages being finished over time.
What is your website address?
