we love our pets and saw a lack of useful resources

I've been doing this for a while now... I grew up with the net, when I was 12 I was teleneting in to unix servers

webmd.com, petsmd.com was taken at the time

there is a lack of similar sites

I'd wrap up a variety of ongoing projects

yes, but I'd start tweaking the Web 2.0 aspects to make it more fun to be on
