The Place of Pets Interview

By Interviewer at 11/08/07 21:48

Name of your website?

The Place of Pets

Your name?

Carol Botha

Your Location (city, etc)

Pakenham

Great site for all things related to pets and pet care. Includes information on the care, health, feeding and training of dogs, cats, horses, birds and rodents. Content regularly updated. Free newsletter.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Love animals. Love the internet. Love to learn. Decided to put all three of these together.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

First website just launched (Nov 2007) - www.placeofpets.com.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Wanted it to reflect the content of the site, but was also restricted by the availability of suitable domain names.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Better organised. Regularly updated content. Includes RSS feeds. Constantly developing and changing.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for income.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It doesn't at the moment! being brand new, the website is currently just a labour of love.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Would ensure I could. Would employ more staff if necessary.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Everything costs - from web editors to FTP software. Biggest headache has been not knowing HTML very well.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Including RSS feeds

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Don't know yet!

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Keep coing indefinitely.

What is your website address?
