Please give us a short summary of your website?
Magisch Miniature Schnauzers is a very small scale hobby breeder of quality AKC Miniature Schnauzers. Participating in conformation, obedience and a member of the national breed club AMSC. Adequate health testing is done to ensure healthy, long lived and devoted pets. Information on training, grooming and other areas of interest.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The internet is one of the best places for people to learn about my schnauzers and to meet and network with others of like mind and interest.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
i breed dairy goats as well and set up a website to show my breeding stock and current saleslist etc.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Miniature Schnauzers in my opinion are Magical... They also originated in Germany, Magisch is Magical in German.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
It is not a puppy marketing site, which i absolutely loathe... My hobby is not for money making or a profit. It is for the love and desire to improve this wonderful breed.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To keep it and for visitors to be updated on the happenings of what's going on at Magisch.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Well, frankly, i've invested much more than i've received in return... But that is what serious, reputable breeding is all about... The love of the breed, the striving of improving it with every litter produced. Helping others who inquire and have questions or concerns.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Unlimited funds to send dogs out to show as i'm limited with traveling having 4 small children at home and a husband overseas in Afghanistan.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
i will never breed for the demand... There are enough animals dying in shelters every day to be contributing to that.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The ridiculous new Maine Breeder's Law... Which i will fight to the bitter end.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding other serious schnauzer people in Maine.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth, past puppy adopters.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
no
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
i've run it for almost 3 years and will continue as long as there is breath in me.
What makes you different than all of the other dog breeders in Maine?
i do required health checks and certifications for my breed. i research all pedigrees at length before breeding any dogs. i keep a very small number of dogs, all of them are first and foremost my pets and loved members of my family. All sleep in bed with me and enjoy roaming on the farm and playing with the kids.
