I always thought my cats were from pure bred families. But 2 days ago a family friend, who happens to own the parents of the cats me and family owns told me they were actually interbred from one type to another. So I was quite shock to hear that.
I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to cat breeds, the only thing I know is that I love my cats no matter what they are. Besides, they're all cute and huggable and who cares what breed are they.
And so I learned that my male cat Pifa is a cross bred of a Honeybear and a Maine Coon. When my parents gave them to me, they said he was a Honeybear. While my female cat Cera's mother is a crossbreed of a Honeybear-Maine Coon and her father is a pure American Bobtail, making her a Honeybear - Maine Coon - American Bobtail breed. So complex!
But both of them do have two race in common, Maine Coon and Honeybear. I would like to see their offspring and see what it will look like. Will they be more of a Maine Coon? A Honeybear? Or least likely an American Bobtail? The latter seems a bit impossible because Cera herself doesn't even look like one.
Cera was pregnant last year but had a miscarriage because she fell from our roof one day when I was out. Oh well, I need to be patient and they can create another clan and I'm excited to see that.
I'm planning to get a new cat in replacement for the one that was lost and never came back. I think I'd like to have a Sphynx! Some find them scary but I actually think they're cute!
