I am currently in the middle of what I think is a scam. The email address I responded to in regards to adoption of a capuchin monkey named Nina from Cameroon is whitewhits@yahoo.com. I have paid $290US for the adoption. Now they want $6,500 for the refundable insurance for shipment. I said I do not have that money but they keep asking for more. He always writes the word waiting at the end of his emails. Can anyone give me insight into this? Worried.

You most likely are.

If you are writing from America then you should NEVER order a monkey from abroad. It is ILLEGAL to import a monkey in to the US as a pet. It will either be euthanised at the port (and you will have to pay) or it will be immediately deported (and you will have to pay).

There are many scams operating in which people claiming to be in Cameroon or other exotic locations offer to sell and ship you a monkey. YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE A MONKEY.

You will be asked for a deposit, an initial payment, an insurance fee, airport taxes, medical costs etc and they will request that you pay these by cash money transfer, often Western Union. They request this because once you send money through Western Union it is gone; it is no longer yours and there is no way to seek a refund. You cannot put a "password" or any other form of protection on a cash money transfer.

DO NOT transfer any more money. I'm sorry to say but it is VERY likely that "Nina" doesn't even exist and that the person emailing you is of a different name, gender and probably isn't even in Cameroon.

If you have paid the initial money through cash transfer then it is gone and is pretty much impossible to get back. If you paid in another more traceable form such as credit card, check, or even direct account deposit you should contact your bank and they will assist you.

In the future only buy online through established companies and do not pay ANYTHING via wire cash transfer.

I would be very skeptical. Capuchin monkeys are not from Cameroon, or anywhere in Africa for that matter. On top of that, I work with Capuchin monkeys and they're angry, aggressive individuals that would make horrible pets.

This Ngu Kingsly IS a scam artist. Do not trust anything this person (thing) has to say. He uses Gods's name to sell his Monkey/Money Scam. He even uses his brother,

Ndi Thomas who works at Western Union in his Monkey/Money SCAM.....please, please be careful dealing with this

I just recieved the same e-mail you all are getting. They said they were in ohio, so we going to pick the monkeys up, but i guess not

Why in the world would you send money overseas??? Monkeys have not been imported into the US in over 30 years!! It is NOT legal and the monkey would never make it thru customs and if he did, he'd be euthanized. I can't believe you'd do something this lame. If you want a monkey, buy one from a reputable breeder in the US!

I was also looking to buy or adopt a baby capuchin monkey.Everyone that got back to me were nice to start of with until i told them i wuold only do it my way which is cash on del as soon as i suggest that they get quite nasty. THESE MONKEYS DO NOT EXIST PLEASE DO NOT GET CAUGHT IN ONE OF THESE SCAMS. Iwas clever enough to work out what they were up to all these places the monkeys are supposed to be at EG LONDON, LIVERPOOL,ETC IS ALL A SCAM. If they loved these monkeys that much they would make the del to you. BE CAREFUL!!!!

it was all B.S and i allmost sent that bitc@ the money. and my kids were so exited. its a freakin scam! and it was a 237-55435 number

they have a whole building enterprize of scammers in "cameroon" i am begging you not to go ahead with this purchase!! I nearly got scammed myself!

I just received the same email scam as listed above. I did not give any information to them but requested information from so I could travel over there to get further accuainted with them and the monkeys life style. Ha, ended that.

I have received the following mail on 11/08/2009 and it just seem to much like part of this scam. Luckily I started searching the internet and found this site. The okay after every sentence is a dead give away. He even phoned me from a number +23 7762454**. (I have left out the last two numbers just incase he is real, which I don't believe. Has anybody been able to track this person?

The sad part is that this guy uses Gods name to try and get you to buy into his scam.
