Janes Jungle is a place for those who are looking for information on the genet. I encourage owners, prospective owners, and breeders of the genet to come onto the website and ask questions, answer questions, post photos, and learn. This is a great place for anyone who has been searching for information on the genet but have not found much.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The reason this website was started was because there is not enough information on the web for those who want to learn more about the genet. After doing my own search of the internet and not finding much information about keeping these animals as pets I decided to put up my own website to help others find information. I hope to make this site a very helpful tool for anyone who is seeking help with genets, care, diet, and just general information.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my very first website, which I am very excited about!! I look forward to building it into a great tool others can use.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name of my website came from my friends and family who have always said that due to my interest in animals and the fact that I have had so many different types over the years, I should put a sign up the reads "Janes Jungle".
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
My site is different because there are no other sites that are offering the information that is much needed about genets. Owners of these animals are hard to contact and due to the net not having much information for anyone who is new to the world of owning genets or those who would like to own these beautiful animals I want them to have somewhere to go to share their problems, questions, and answers.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My only goal with this website is to build it up and give the best information to those who need it. I have no interest of selling anything on the website at this time nor do I plan to make money off of it.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I have only invested time into the website and I plan to invest much more, not for profit but for knowledge!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would only add more information to the site and be able to hopefully get others involved in developing it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes! I am devoted to bringing this information to the world and to those who need it. If I find myself overwhelmed them I will simply get someone else to help me keep up with the demands.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None at this point in time.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge thus far has been to get the website up and running and to get it out to the public.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I'm not sure that any method has really helped me to promote this website just yet. The site is still very new and in the makings of what I hope to be something great.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Nothing has differed from my expectations as of yet. I am working hard to get everything going and to get all the bugs out of the website and hope to have it all running smoothly very shortly.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have only had this site up and running for a day or two at this point but I have every intention to keep this site running forever.
Why is getting this information out there so important to you?
This information is needed being that there is nothing like this out there. It is important because anyone who plans to own a genet needs the best information they can get in order to provide their animal with the quality of care that the animal deserves.
