Toilet training a ferret is like toilet  training a cat. All you need is a litter box, a cage, and some patience.

What you want to do is keep the ferret in a cage with the litter box to make sure that the ferret is using the box. If it isn't try moving the cage and box to a different spot to see if it likes the location better.

Once the ferret is using the box regularly, let it out of the cage in a limited space and put another litter box outside the cage in that same room.

When letting the ferret out to play put it in the box for a little bit and do this frequently while playing. If your ferret backs into a corner put it in the box. It usually means they have to go.

When the ferret does use the box make sure you praise it or give it a treat so it knows it is dong the right thing.
If you do catch you ferret relieving itself on the floor punish it by putting it straight into the box.

Once your ferret is doing good with the boxes you can enlarge the space but make sure to put more boxes around because it will not look long to find one.

If your ferret goes in one spot all the time make sure to put a box there, if it is somewhere you don't want it to go, put a box there and move it slowly to a place close by.

If you ferret starts going to the bathroom all over the place again, start this method over again.
You should leave some waste in the box so it does know that the box is its bathroom, and in the cage make sure the box is separate from its living space.
