I have read many books on dog psychology and behavior issues, BUT none compares to Cesar Millan’s books. Even if you have never watched one episode of the Dog Whisperer the way Cesar explains how certain behavior issues occur and what steps are necessary in gaining control of the situation is almost like have him sitting there in front of you giving you step-by-step instructions. We ignore early signs of the most common dog problems, because we as humans do not understand how to see a dog, as a dog. We want to see them as HUMANS, therefore we create these unwelcome and unwanted behaviors in our furry friends. I adopted a dog from a local shelter because she was so cute. After she destroyed three pair of shoes, two pillows, left little surprise all over my house, barking all day/night, biting me, and than costing me $600.00 in medical bills--I said no more so I gave her to someone else. Finally, I had taken back control of my house and my life, the terror was removed. A few weeks later while waiting for my favorite TV show to come on, I watched “The Dog Whisperer”. By the time the one hour show had ended I was heart-broken and could not sleep that night. I could not stop thinking about that little dog (terrible tiny). I blamed her for everything—she was a bad dog. I thought because she was an older dog she would come already trained, quiet, and JUST perfect. Shame on me! I contacted the women that I gave her to and asked if I stop by to see her, the women was happy to her from me (that was surprising). And yes the little tiny dog was still eating everything in sight and biting. I felt compelled to help the tiny dog through her issues, but first we had to understand them. Here is where Cesar Millan’s techniques worked like a miracle drug. After a few weeks of spending time with the little dog and applying Cesar’s rules and rehabilitation techniques the little dog had become a perfect little lady.
Giving up on her to this day has changed my life. That little dog was a real-eye-opener making it clear to see that we cannot blame them for their behavior not when we have created it. Today I have a wonderful Doberman. He has been with me since he was five weeks old, he is a few days shy from is one year old birthday. He is a big, big part of my life. I have applied the “Cesar’s Way” of understanding and correcting the early signs of common dog problems. I take him everywhere. He is very animal friendly. He has somewhat of a celebrity status here in Florida. I could not have done his training without the safe techniques that Cesar demonstrates on his show and talks about in his books.
The little dog has passed on, but she will never be forgotten. She helped me to help my own dog become a well balanced dog.
I left a corporate job to begin a new career as a Canine Massage Therapist. Please learn about how massage therapy can help to improve your dog’s health and life span.
When you find someone that you believe in then follow that feeling. Do not give up on supporting Cesar and his crew.
Mr. Suarez probably never realized that he WAS his dog’s issues.
