Your Location (city, etc)

Please give us a short summary of your website?
Learn about martingale collars, and shop for your dogs. Many styles of trims to choose from, as well as custom orders made to your specifications.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
People who purchased my collars locally encouraged me to make them available to the general public.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
In 2008. It was the initial website for my collar company.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
My happy customers said the collars I made were "a step ahead" of the competition in style as well as strength and safety. It seemed a natural title.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We remain minimalistic without a lot of flashy bells and whistles. Rather the focus is on the product and allowing the customer to see a wide selection of available trims/designs that they can choose from.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I'd like to keep the company for income. It supports my personal greyhound habit. Also, I like being able to donate product and some of my profits to greyhound rescue organizations throughout North America.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The initial investment was fairly substantial, as an inventory of collars had to be built up. Now that I'm in full swing, I've reached a better balance.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Links from greyhound adoption sites, and word of mouth
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
This site has been up for only 2 months. I will keep at it for as long as I have the time.
