Please give us a short summary of your website?
We offer many unique items for your pet such as designer dog clothes,dog carriers,collars,dog beds,dog costumes,dog bowls,pet gift baskets,dog birthday cakes,and dog accessories.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
My dogs and my love for them. I have always rescued dogs and cats among other animals for as long as I could remember. I love what I do and am very dedicated to my work. I also help with fundraisers and list them on my site all the time. Its great to help as much as I can and at the same time offer cool items for all pets big and small.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
July of 2006 Posh Pet Glamour Boutique was launched. I started out with about 30 products and now I offer over 2,000 products to my customers.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I was deciding on a name and wanted something to separate my store from the rest.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I carefully choose each item available on the site. I also have 2 taste testers at home (Bit Bit & Diesel) who assist with testing our gourmet treats. I offer a huge array of products which range in price from .75 to $500. Something for Everyone.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I've already reached my goal, to have a prosperous website and to enjoy working at the same time. I will always have this website and hope to pass it down to my children when they are of age.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
A large amount of time goes into the website. Lots of dedication and lost sleep goes into turning a website into a success. Once you have a successful website, the rest falls into place. Just lots of dedication of time and doing your homework when starting a business.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would change the brick and mortar store to be exactly the way I would like it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes I would. I love to work and doing what I do is actually fun. I look forward to assisting customers and processing orders every day.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Advertising is the hardest part. Very expensive, you have to be careful of what you choose to spend your money on.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Exchanging links.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Directory Listings,Links and book about search engines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Its more work than I originally expected but I enjoy what I do so I dont mind at all.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Been in business almost 3 years and will continue for many, many more.
What advice would you give to others starting a website?
Do your homework. Buy books about starting an online business, study about search engines, look into an advertising budget and contact your state about tax id's and any licensing you may need.
