Recently, a conjoined twin birds were found in Arkansas. This ultra rare find is a breakthrough in the bird world. It is so far the only case ever reported. There wasn't any conjoined incident in the bird world before, at least that's what we humans know.
The conjoined barn swallows first appeared to have only 3 legs. But it was later found that it's actually four, with the other one appearing shorter and hidden on the skin from the part connecting the two birds, making them look like only having 3. Scientist said this event is not even one in a million because it's probably more than that.
The birds were found by a landowner when it fell from its nest. Perhaps a healthy sibling flew off the nest to learn how to hunt. The twins are not healthy, just so you know. Actually, when the wildlife officials arrived on the landowner's house last Friday, the birds were not eating. Later that day one of them died and officials just euthanize the other one.
Experts said that the conjoined swallows came from a double yolk egg. They are hard to find because most of birds with this case die even before they are discovered.
Barn swallows are known to live for a relatively long life, perhaps they can live for more than 10 years. But even that if the birds were separated, they will not be able to live to age with normal swallows. And it will be hard to teach them to fly.
