When I was still living with my parents in our hometown, our backyards are full of trees. We have large farms and many trees. One of the usual thing you can have from having this vegetation is the abundance of cicadas. And when you have cicadas in your backyard, you now what will happen next. A night of acoustic sounds. At around 6pm, just when the sun started to set, cicadas start their ritual, singing. In our place it is usually called the Cicada Song, I don't know what you call that in your own place. I love hearing them, because I know that when they're there, the place is still clean, unpolluted and the vegetation is still high.
But when I left my house to study to a different place, I have never heard or seen cicadas from then on. I graduated, worked, still no cicadas. Here in my current home, there are only a few trees where cicadas can live. There's not much cicadas here, if there's any.
That's why last night I was so happy while I was with my friend walking late at night in the park. The place was so serene. We are the only ones visiting the park at night haha. The large trees are pretty amazing at night. They were lit up. The fireflies served as the light while cicadas provided the musical entertainment.
I so love hearing them sing! My friends love the fireflies more, but I would still go for the cicada, yea, I'm kind of weird but I don't care.
The park is just a few minutes drive from my home, and I would love to come back there soon. Perhaps I would bring a recorder, so I won't have any problems hearing them again when I miss their lovely tunes.
Next time, try listening to singing cicadas, you'll find it soothing and refreshing.
