Double Shoe Ranch Interview

By Interviewer at 12/16/07 10:46

Name of your website?

Double Shoe Ranch

Your name?

Double Shoe Ranch

Your Location (city, etc)

We are located in Southern Ohio

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our website is basically a place where we can tell prospective customers about the products we raise and sell on our family farm. We offer quality kiko goats for sale as well as working bred Border Collie dogs. We are also a dealer of Japanese Mini Trucks in Southern Ohio. ~

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our location is relatively isolated yet we have some very good animals and products for sale that we wanted to be able to offer to a broader market than our local area.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is our first website and it was lauched in December 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We decided to name our website after our farm name. We have already had several dealings outside our area and have done business under our farm name. We felt this would add continuity to the different products we sell.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We come from a background in raising cattle and can add this experience to selectively breeding meat goats. The meat goat industry is relatively young in the United States and in our opinion needs to be operated more like a cattle ranch. More emphasis needs to be placed on production traits and less on pedigree.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to be able to sell all the hardy parasite resistent kiko goats that we raise on our farm each year. We would also like to become the top location in Southern Ohio for Japanese Mini Trucks.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding the time to set in front of the computer promoting the site and writing text for the site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Listing our site with free classified ad sites has helped a lot of people find it on the web.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Maintaining our website has actually been much eaiser than I expected. Our web designer was very good.

What is your website address?

Double Shoe Ranch
