2007
anima-adopt.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Anima, in Latin, refers to the life essence of something. It is also nearly the same as animal. We thougth it would convey that our business is about the life spirit in animals.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Our website is a virtual animal shelter that streams pets "live" from various shelters nationwide. It is interactive and live, a one-stop site for animal lovers.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To conticue assisting welfare organizations through the Anima Adopt program.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Our success is measured in the number of lives (both animal and human) that are touched and changed for the better.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would love to expand the Anima Shelter Manager program further. This management program is used by the shelters to manage their data and this is where the website data is streamed from.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Oh yes, we would make sure of that.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not many, really. The support has been wonderful.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding money to fund the project.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
The internet and radio.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
We were pretty well prepared so there have been no big surprizes. It is a learning curve though, so it grows with us.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been live for about 8 months now, and we are planning on running it indefinitely.
How many animals have been listed on your site during the past 8 months?
More than 1500! About 700 have found new homes, which is wonderful.
