I am not a PETA member, because I love eating pork and chicken. I'm not even a die hard animal rights advocate. But I do sympathize with the animals in this video showing their complains against their current situation in the zoo. This video is a pretty interesting one, they animated the animals and talks to you directly. I find it funny as well as an eye opener, really, you have to watch this. Whenever we visit the zoo, our eyes are entertained by these lovely animals. We feel glad that we got to see them in close contact. But have we asked ourselves if the animals that makes us happy is feeling the same way?
I often wonder when I was still a kid how 3 big elephants enjoy a small house in the zoo near our place. I mean, my mom used to show me photos of elephants roaming the vast African lands and yet they are living in that small space? I'm quite amazed how people did that before, shipping all those big animals from one place to another.
How about those lions? They are the king of the jungle. And if you're a king, you have your own kingdom, you have your own rules. Are they still the king in a zoo? Do they have their own territory to call their own that makes them a king? The answer is a big no.
Before I got thrilled whenever my family visits the zoo, but the last time I visited one, all I saw is nothing but sad animal expressions. Most of the animals in the zoo I have visited are already used to human presence, a thing that is not natural for them. I will say yes for safaris, but not for zoos.
There are animals that really enjoy socializing with humans, but most of them do not. And I believe we must leave them at that.
